Paula Radcliffe Returns To The Marathon in 2025!
Former marathon world record holder Paula Radcliffe has announced that she’s returning to the start line in 2025, and will be running both the Tokyo Marathon and the Boston Marathon.
Radcliffe set her marathon world record of 2:15:25 at the London Marathon in 2003, and it remained the world’s fastest time until 2019.
She ran her final marathon in 2015, finishing the London Marathon in 2:36:55. Now, 10 years later, the 51-year-old is coming back.
Having won the London Marathon (2002, 2003, 2005), Chicago Marathon (2002) and New York City Marathon (2004, 2007, 2008) and finished third at the Berlin Marathon (2011), Radcliffe will become a World Marathon Major Six Star finisher after completing Tokyo in March and Boston in April.
Radcliffe hasn’t yet revealed whether she is ‘coming out of retirement’ to race to achieve a certain time, or if she’s running to complete the races for charity without a time goal, but we’re excited to see her back running marathons again.
PAULA’S MARATHON RUN CLUB
Radcliffe will be talking about her training on her new podcast Paula’s Marathon Run Club, which she co-hosts with former professional marathoner and Olympian Chris Thompson. The podcast runs for 16 weeks through the spring marathon season, guiding new and accomplished runners as they progress in their training.
The podcast is partnering with Children with Cancer UK and Radcliffe’s 17-year old daughter Isla will be running the 2025 London Marathon, raising money for the charity which supported her and the Radcliffe family when she was diagnosed with cancer in 2020 at the age of 13.
Paula’s Marathon Run Club releases a new episode every Monday, where Radcliffe will be sharing her own training as she returns to the marathon, plus sharing great insight to help others prepare for their marathons.
