Half Marathon Pace Chart

Use this half marathon pace chart to see what pace you need to average to reach your goal time, or use it to predict what time you might be able to run based on your training paces.

Paces are time per mile and per kilometre, so 9:06 per mile means nine minutes and six seconds for each mile. That’s the average pace you need to run for the whole race.

We’ve rounded down on the times (1:59 instead of 2:00) and on paces as this gives a more accurate target pace for you to aim for with an allowance for how you’ll typically run further than 13.1 miles / 21.1km during the race, and it adds a buffer of a few seconds.

If you want to calculate your own time then this is a good pace calculator which could also help with understanding training paces.

Here’s some advice and workouts for runners looking to run a faster half marathon.

Here’s Rick taking on his first half marathon in five years after returning from major knee surgery. He wanted to run under two hours (9:04 per mile, 5:38 per km), but can he do it?
