Ingebrigtsen Runs 3:45.14 To Smash Indoor Mile World Record!

Jakob Ingebrigtsen has set a new world record for the indoor mile, running 3:45.14 in Liévin, France.
In what was the Norwegian’s first ever indoor mile race, Ingebrigtsen took more than one second off the previous record, and in doing so he ran through 1500m in 3:29.63, which was inside his own indoor world record for that distance (3:30.60), so he set two world records in one race.
This is the second time in a week that the men’s indoor mile world record has been broken.
USA’s Yared Nuguse ran 3:46.63 to win the Wanamaker Mile at the Millrose Games held in New York just five days ago. USA’s Hobbs Kessler finished second in the race and was also inside the previous world record.
Ingebrigsten now holds four world records: indoor 1500m and mile, and outdoor 2000m and 3000m, plus a world best in the two mile.
The three fastest indoor miles of all time have been run in February 2025, and confirms that we can expect another thrilling year of men’s racing over 1500m and the mile, both indoors and outdoors.
