The Running Channel Take On Malaga Marathon – And You Can Join Us!

The Running Channel is heading to the 2024 Malaga Marathon and Half Marathon, and YOU CAN JOIN US!

Andy is running the Malaga Marathon on 15 December, and the TRC team will be there to run and cheer, but we thought: how could we make that even more fun?

So we’ve teamed up with Sports Tours to organise our own running trip. You can find all the details here, or read on to find out more!

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?

Want to see if you can beat Andy in a marathon? Would you like Sarah to pace you in a half marathon? Fancy jogging alongside Rick as he heads to the hot tub or to get another carafe of Rioja? (Before realising we’ve signed him up to run the half!).

With welcome drinks and a chance to hang out with the team and your fellow runners, a 5km shakeout run, an escort to the expo, a post-run party, a live podcast recording, and the race, it’s going to be a great weekend away!

As for Malaga, we’re drawn to the fast and beautiful course, and some December sunshine to keep us motivated on those cold winter long runs!

You can choose to run the half marathon or the marathon. Both start and finish in the same place in the historic old town (a short walk from our hotel!), and follow the same route for 21km before the half marathoners head to their finish line, and the marathoners head off around the city (we expect the half runners to be there cheering when we get back!!).

Family and friends can come too and don’t need to enter a race.

WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE TRIP?

The trip runs from Friday 13 December to Monday 16 December, and you’ll get:

  • 3 nights at the 4 star NH Malaga hotel
  • Breakfast
  • Optional marathon or half marathon entry
  • Meet and Greet drinks on Friday night
  • 5km shakeout run on Saturday morning
  • Race briefing on Saturday morning
  • Escort to the marathon expo on Saturday
  • Post-race celebration with the TRC team and a live podcast recording

You just need to book your own travel and we’ll see you in Malaga!

WHAT’S THE FULL ITINERARY FOR THE MALAGA TRIP?

Day 1 | Friday 13 December
Make your own way to Malaga and head to the NH Malaga Hotel. You’ll be welcomed by a Sports Tours representative, who’ll be with us for the whole weekend and making our whole experience as easy as possible. In the evening we’ll be hosting welcome drinks so you can meet your fellow runners and the TRC team.

Day 2 | Saturday 14 December
After carb-loading (non-runners call it ‘breakfast’), we’ll go on a team 5km shakeout run to loosen up our legs. Then we’ll have a race briefing to answer any questions you might have about your race. After that, Sports Tours will escort us to the race expo to collect ours race bibs. Then we’re free to enjoy the rest of our Saturday in Malaga.

Day 3 | Sunday 15 December
Race day! The start (and finish) of the race is just a 1km walk from the hotel, so we’re staying close to the action for the weekend. After the race, we’ll have a post-marathon party and a live podcast recording with Sarah, Andy and Rick!

Day 4 | Monday 16 December
High fives, handshakes, hugs, and we say adios and thanks for joining us in Malaga!

Head to the Sports Tours website to book your trip to come and run with us in Malaga this December!

Will you be there?
