The Running Channel’s Favourite Running Shoes & Accessories of 2024
What are your favourite running shoes and running accessories in 2024?
We’ve asked around The Running Channel office to see which shoes have been popular with the team this year.
We’ve also posted a few videos in 2024 all about our favourite trail running shoes, our favourite supershoes, plus a guide to all New Balance shoes, so check those out if you want a more detailed look at some great running shoes.
OUR FAVOURITE RUNNING SHOES OF 2024
Sarah’s go-to shoe has been New Balance 1080 V14. It’s soft, comfortable, versatile, and a perfect all-rounder. For speedier runs, she’s really enjoyed the Mizuno Neo Vista.
Jess, who probably has more shoes than anyone in the office, has a few favourites running shoes for 2024, including Nike Pegasus Trail 5, Nike Alphafly 3 (which she wore for her sub-three hour marathon), adidas Adizero Adios Pro 4, New Balance 1080 V13, Altra FWD and ASICS Metaspeed Sky Paris.
Mo’s favourite shoe has been the ASICS Superblast 2.
For Stevie, it’s Nike Vaporfly 3, which he used for several PBs this year, including his first sub-three marathon.
In 2024, Andy has been using the PUMA ForeverRun a lot and has just got the winterised version. He also really likes the KIPRUN KD900XLD. An underdog, as he says, but a great shoe that’s nice and stable, and fast!
Owen’s favourite running shoes in 2024 were Puma Nitro Deviate 3 and New Balance Rebel V4. On the trails, he’s been mostly wearing the Nike Zegama 2.
Like Owen, Mark loved the New Balance Rebel V4 this year, and is on his second pair. Mark runs a lot of the trails, and his go-to shoe this year was the HOKA Mafate Speed 4 which are responsive, comfortable and have great grip.
Rick is another one in the office who is a big fan of the Rebel V4, which he chooses for his fast 5km runs. His other go-to shoe this year has been the ASICS Gel Nimbus, which he used to run two half marathons, and a lot of his training to get to the start line.
Tom ran a 5km and 10km PB in HOKA Cielo X1, so they have become his favourite and most-trusted shoes for running fast. He also wore Altra Lone Peak 8 during a 24 hour race, and loved how they gave him no foot issues despite how far he ran.
OUR FAVOURITE RUNNING ACCESSORIES OF 2024
Whether it’s a good pair of socks, a favourite hat or a tool to help our recovery, we all love our running accessories.
Jess’s favourite accessories this year include Under Armour technical socks for her feet, a Salomon Active Skin 4 hydration vest for her long runs, and a TRC x VAGA hat.
Mark couldn’t run without colour-matching his socks and shoes, so he’s been loving wearing Shyu socks this year. He also loves the Janji Trail Half Tights and Janji’s Rainrunner Jacket. Shout out to Biofreeze and his foam roller.
Andy rarely runs without his Shokz headphones, and recently has been using the Openrun Pro 2. He also loves his Garmin 965, and constantly changes his watch face with GarminIQ ‘cos he’s a nerd!
Like Andy, Owen also loves the Garmin 965, and he’s become obsessed with all the data he’s able to track.
Owen also really likes his ON Ultra Jacket, which got him through a 50km run during a storm.
For Mo it’s been a trusty head band to keep his flowing hair under control.
Tom’s favourite accessory was a pair of Under Armour Compression shorts. He used them on 99% of his runs this year and didn’t ever get any chafing. Plus the hold his phone while he runs.
Sarah is keeping it real with her favourite running accessory: anti-chafe balm. As she says: “Honestly I’ve avoided many scars from my phone bouncing in the side pockets of my shorts this year by whacking on some anti-chafe before a race. Running is so glamorous…!”
For Rick, he’s learnt the importance of fuelling, and taking gels on his longer runs. “It’s not only improved my times, but also my enjoyment of getting out and running.”
