The Running Channel’s Favourite Videos of 2024
From team challenges to personal challenges, community races to running with Kenyans, and a lot of brilliant videos to help you with all aspects of your running, we’ve had a great year making videos at The Running Channel. These are some of our favourite videos of 2024.
TOM AIMS TO RUN A SUB-60 10km
When there are happy tears in the office at the end of a video, we know it’s a good one. Not all races end in a personal best, and not all runs are good. Sometimes we fail, but it’s how we respond to those bad runs that help us to improve. After struggling in his 10km, Tom knew it wasn’t the end of his challenge…
ANDY CAN’T FIND A YELLOW CAR
If you want to see Andy get very frustrated during a challenge, then this is the video for you! The idea was very simple: run until you see a yellow car! Can you guess who couldn’t find a yellow car despite running around central London for ages?!
HOW FAR CAN YOU RUN IN ONE HOUR?
A special challenge video set in Paris saw Sarah, Tom, Rick and Andy try to run as far as possible in one hour, but the catch is that it’s measured as the crow flies. There was less than 100m between first and second, but who won? (Oh, and guess who spots a yellow car in this one).
HOW FAR CAN YOU RUN IN 24 HOURS?
No, one hour wasn’t far enough for us, so we took on a 24 hour run to see just how far we can go! This one was Mo, James, Sarah and Tom at Endure 24, taking on as many 8km laps as possible (and eating all the snacks in between!).
TRAINING WITH KENYAN ELITES
Mo and James went to Iten in Kenya to learn all about how elite runners live, train and recover. Everyone in the office was jealous of their trip, so we were very excited to see and hear all about it when they returned.
HAS OLYMPIAN ANDY STILL GOT IT?
Five years after he last ran a sub-16 minute 5km, Andy is back on the start line and seeing if he can run a post-retirement personal best. This vlog follows Andy through his whole day before the team joined him for the race.
WHAT IT’S REALLY LIKE TO RUN THE LONDON MARATHON
Sarah runs the London Marathon with Mo pacing her towards a new personal best. Straight after the finish she was in the studio sharing her thoughts on the highs and lows of running, in this honest, open and inspiring video of what it means to keep on running even when things get hard.
STOP WHEN YOU THINK YOU’VE HIT 10km
Do you think you could run exactly 10km without looking at your watch or going on a familiar route? That’s the challenge in this video. It’s Tom, Sarah, Jess and James taking on the challenge. One ran 3km too far, one was 2km short, one was just 6m short of 10km! But who do you think won?
RICK RUNS HIS FIRST HALF MARATHON IN FIVE YEARS
He doesn’t like to talk about it (!) but Rick had major knee surgery a few years ago, and from learning to walk again, and then starting to run, he took on his biggest challenge since surgery: a half marathon.
WE PACED 100 PEOPLE TO A 10k PB!
With a team of seven expert pacers, we put on our own 10k race to pace 100 runners to a new personal best! We love making these videos and helping members of the TRC community to reach their goals.
CAN JESS RUN A 10km PB?
Jess spent the beginning of 2024 training towards a 10km personal best attempt in Barcelona. The team chose this as a favourite video this year, partly because they got a weekend a Spain, but also because of Jess’s brilliant run!
CAN JESS RUN A SUB-3 HOUR MARATHON?
After her 10km race, Jess stepped up to the marathon. Her personal best was an agonising 3:00:10, so she was out to run 11 seconds faster. Jess’s determination and her ability to overcome her struggles (and cramp!) are something we can all appreciate in this video. Go Jess!
TOP MARATHON MISTAKES TO AVOID
Follow James on his 40th marathon as he shares some of his top tips on things to avoid when you’re running a marathon. And he does it all during the spectacular The North Face Transgrancanaria, so learn some great tips while you enjoy the views!
ANNA IS BACK RUNNING, AND TAKING ON HER PB PBs
Earlier this year, Anna ran her final race… before having a baby! And now she’s returning to running at the end of 2024, where she’s looking for her PB PBs. That’s Post Baby Personal Bests!
CAN WE RUN A SUB-75 MINUTE HALF MARATHON?
When Andy had to postpone his half marathon PB attempt, the team decided they’d step up and help him to run his goal of a 75-minute half marathon. The tension in this one is comes from none of the team being competent enough at maths to know if they’re going to do it or not! Here’s how they got on…
