Ingebrigtsen Stars at World Athletics Indoor Championships 2025 – Plus All The Winners!

Jakob Ingebrigtsen has become the double indoor World Champion after winning both the 1500m and 3000m at the 2025 World Athletics Indoor Championship in Nanjing, China.
Despite his global success, this was the Norwegian’s first 1500m world title and his first world indoor crown, and he was a comfortable winner in both races. He’s only the second man to win the world indoor double following Haile Gebrselassie in 1999.
It’s the second time in two weeks that Ingebrigtsen has won the 1500m/3000m double following his achievement at the European Indoor Championships.
Earlier in the indoor season, Ingebrigtsen broke the indoor 1500m and mile world record in Liévin, France. He will now turn his attention to the outdoor track and working towards the World Championships in Tokyo in September.
A GOOD GAMES FROM GB ATHLETES
There were two golds, one silver and one bronze for Team GB at the World Indoor Championships.
Amber Anning won gold in the women’s 400m, and became the first British woman to win an individual world indoor sprint title – it’s her first major title, and it joins her two Olympic bronze medals in the women’s 4 x 400m relay and the mixed 4 x 400m relay from the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Jeremiah Azu sprinted to his first global title by winning the men’s 60m. After winning gold in the European Indoor championship two weeks earlier, Azu ran 6.49 to match his personal best and become world champion.
Neil Gourley finished second to Ingebrigtsen in the 1500m. It’s his second major medal having won European indoor silver in 2023.
Georgia Hunter Bell, Olympic bronze medallist from Paris, finished third in the 1500m, running a personal best and just missing the British record. It was a redemption run for her after going into the European indoors as favourite to win, and leaving without a medal.
