How Far Is A Marathon?

HOW LONG IS A MARATHON?
A marathon is 26.2 miles or 42.2 kilometres.
To be even more exact, it’s:
- 26.218 miles, or 26 miles and 385 yards
- 42.195 kilometres, or 42,195 metres
All official marathons need to be 26.2 miles or 42.2 km.

A half marathon is exactly half as far as a marathon.
A half marathon is 13.1 miles or 21.1 kilometres (21,097m).
HOW FAR IS AN ULTRAMARATHON
An ultramarathon is any distance further than a marathon (26.2 miles/42.2km). Common distances are:
- 50km (31.1 miles)
- 50 miles (80.5 km)
- 100km (62.2 miles)
- 100 miles (160.9 km)
