Miles or Kilometres? | The Running Channel Chats With Run Mummy Run Founder, Leanne Davies
Next in the Miles or KMs hot seat is Run Mummy Run Founder, Leanne Davies!
Do you measure in miles or kms?
Kilometres
Do you listen to music or podcasts when you’re running? If so, what might we find on your playlist?
Mainly podcasts. The Diary of a CEO by Steven Bartlett / Feel Better, Live More by Dr Rangan Chatterjee
Do you measure your runs in time or distance?
Distance
Do you prefer tights or shorts?
Tights!
What are the key recovery techniques you use?
Stretch and massage gun.
What are you training for currently?
I’m waiting for races to open up properly again before I commit and then I intend to enter races with friends at first and celebrate being back together again!
How have you motivated yourself over the past year?
In the lockdowns when we were able to run with someone, my buddy runs really kept me motivated. I did the Virtual London Marathon which really gave me a focus over last autumn which was great. Ultimately, running with a friend was the main motivator and really lifted me over the last year.
Who is inspiring you at the moment?
I’m in awe of everything Nicky Spinks has achieved after her breast cancer diagnosis, such a strong inspiring woman. I’m inspired daily by our women in our closed Facebook community, no matter what life throws at them they are still lacing up their trainers and getting out there running.
What’s your best running memory?
My first ever marathon, Flora London Marathon 2008. Everything went perfectly from start to finish and I smiled all the way round, I loved it.
If you weren’t able to run anymore, but could participate in any other activity. What would it be and why?
Definitely cycling, I would miss nature and the great outdoors too much if I couldn’t run so this is to me is the next best thing.
