Thank you to each and every one of you who voted for our Leading By Example Award!

Congratulations to our WINNER Aaron Lee from @hive22running! And our two RUNNERS UP: Hannah Corne @me_myself_and_eye100 and Carl Orme @fighting_the_dadbod!

Our Winner, Aaron said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to receive this very special award from the Running Channel which means more to me than you know, it emphasises the importance of what we are achieving as a club and how we work hard to ensure the 22 victims and what happened in Manchester will never be forgotten.

I accept this award on behalf of every member and every supporter of Hive22 who each deserve it for the love and support they give to make the club so very special. I would also like to congratulate all fellow shortlisted nominees on their own fantastic achievements I’ve read them all and you are equally worthy of this well done. Thank you to everyone that took the time to vote for me I’m so very grateful.”

And from our Runner Up, Hannah: “I am incredibly surprised and grateful to be a runner up in the Leading by Example awards. To be in a short list with this group of inspiring and wonderful people is very humbling and I have really enjoyed reading and learning about the others.

When I started Mini Mermaids, I never expected for it to gain the traction that it has. All I wanted to do was show girls that their voices matter, to take up space, make mistakes, never underestimate themselves and to understand that physical activity and movement is not just for athletes, but for everyone and show them the power that it holds. 5 years and 100’s of programmes later, I feel that we are on the way to creating a generation of strong, brave, active girls, the leaders of the future.

Never more have I needed the lessons that we teach at Mini Mermaids than when I was battling with Ocular Melanoma and the physical and mental scars that it left me with.

Thank you Running Channel for this opportunity and huge HIGH FINS to all other shortlisters!”

From our Runner Up, Carl: “The nomination was a surprise, but that’s nothing compared to the dozens of people contacting me to wish me luck and share how my story had inspired them. I’m now motivated to do even more to make a difference and help people.”

The whole team here at TRC have been so inspired by all of the nominees and what they’re doing in the running community. Thank you to everyone who took part either by nominating, voting or sharing on social. Keep doing great things, runners!
