What Does It Take To Run A SUB 2 HOUR MARATHON? Eliud Kipchoge’s 1:59 challenge

11th October 2019

After Eliud Kipchoge broke the next great sporting barrier by running a marathon in 1:59:40.2, at The Running Channel we wanted to take a look at the pace required for this incredible feat (which is unfathomable to most runners). We also dive deep into the ins and outs of the training, nutrition and detailed planning that all need to come together on the day perfectly to make history.

The world’s greatest ever marathon runner, Eliud Kipchoge made history on Saturday 12th October in Vienna, Austria, by becoming the first person to run a marathon in under two hours as part of the Ineos 1:59 Challenge. He completed the 26.2 miles in 1:59:40.2

A big thank you to St Mary’s University in Twickenham for letting us use their campus and laboratory to film in, along with their treadmill!
